Jay

4 years | Male | Istanbul, Turkey

Hi, I’m Jay 🐾

I appeared outside a vet clinic one summer day, alone and in a lot of pain. Days passed, and no one came to help me. When I was finally rescued, my little body was in terrible condition. I had a badly infected wound where my tail should have been, broken and rotten teeth, a respiratory infection, and painful skin problems. I was exhausted and struggling just to exist.

The hardest part of my journey is something I’ll carry with me for life. Because of the way my tail amputation was done, I’m partially incontinent. I can urinate a little, but I can’t control my bladder on my own. The vets did every test possible, including X-rays, an MRI, and a neurological exam, but nothing can undo the damage that was done. Without help, my bladder would eventually become dangerously full — something that would have taken my life if I’d remained on the streets.

Today, I live safely in a cattery with an experienced carer who expresses my bladder several times a day. Because of this care, I’ve gained weight, my skin has healed, and I finally feel comfortable in my own body again. I’m a deeply affectionate boy who loves human attention, enjoys the company of other cats, and greets the world with little chirps that sound just like a bird.

I’m looking for a special home — one with someone experienced, patient, and kind, who can continue the simple routine that keeps me healthy and happy. With the right care, I can live a full, joyful life, and I have so much love waiting to give in return.
